Katherine Roumanoff is a French textile artist, a pioneer of the textile portrait for nearly thirty years. Working from repurposed upholstery fabrics, she composes feminine figures without any preliminary drawing — figures that explore memory, inner landscapes, and the condition and visibility of women. Her work stands at the crossroads of contemporary textile art, outsider art, naive art and engaged art.
