General terms of sale

Last updated: October 2026

1. Seller

These general terms of sale ("Terms") apply to sales of original artworks made by Katherine Roumanoff, an artist-author registered with the Maison des artistes (the "artist").

  • Name: Katherine Roumanoff
  • Address: 2, rue de la rive — 49130 Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire, France
  • SIRET: 390 227 858 00037
  • Email: k.roumanoff@gmail.com — Phone: +33 6 76 76 49 32
  • VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.

2. Scope

These Terms apply to every sale of the artist's original works to a buyer, whether a private individual ("consumer") or a business, in France and abroad. They are available on art.roumanoff.com and provided before any order. Placing an order means accepting them.

3. The artworks

Each artwork is a unique piece, made by hand as an assemblage of fabrics (and, depending on the series, wallpapers). Dimensions are given in centimetres, height then width, and are indicative. Photographs and on-screen colours are not contractual: the material and shades of the fabrics may vary slightly depending on your screen. Each artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity.

4. Prices

Prices are in euros, net of VAT (VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code). The applicable price is the one confirmed in writing by the artist when the order is placed. The artist may change prices at any time, without effect on orders already confirmed. Sold works and works in private collections are no longer available.

Shipping: delivery is free in France for purchases of €2,000 or more; below that, costs are stated in the quote, before the order. Internationally, delivery is free of charge, but taxes and customs duties of the destination country remain the buyer's responsibility.

5. Ordering

Orders are made by getting in touch (form, email or phone). The artist replies personally and confirms in writing the availability of the work, the price and the delivery terms. The sale is concluded once the buyer has accepted this written confirmation. Time to think it over is possible on request.

6. Payment

Payment is made by bank transfer. Instalments by mutual agreement are possible, with no minimum amount; terms are then agreed in writing. From €2,000, an art leasing option via Crédit Mutuel is available for professionals and companies.

The artwork remains the artist's property until the price has been paid in full.

7. Delivery

The artwork is shipped promptly once the agreement is finalised and payment received (or the first instalment, for instalment payments), in protective, insured packaging. Transport risks are borne by the seller until delivery. On receipt, the buyer checks the parcel in the carrier's presence and records any precise reservations on the delivery note, then confirms them to the carrier within 3 days of delivery, with a copy to the artist. Hand delivery is possible by appointment.

8. Right of withdrawal (distance sales, consumer buyers)

Where the buyer is a consumer and the sale is concluded at a distance (through the website, by email or phone, with shipping), the buyer has 14 days from receipt of the artwork to withdraw, without giving any reason.

  • To exercise this right, the buyer notifies the decision unambiguously by email to k.roumanoff@gmail.com or by post to the seller's address. The model form below may be used but is not mandatory.
  • The artwork is returned within 14 days of notification, in its original or equivalent protective packaging, in perfect condition. Return costs are borne by the buyer.
  • The artist refunds all sums paid, including initial delivery costs (except any extra cost of a more expensive delivery method chosen by the buyer), within 14 days of receiving the returned artwork, using the same payment method.
  • The buyer is liable for any loss of value of the artwork resulting from handling other than what is needed to check its nature and condition.

The right of withdrawal does not apply to a work made to order, to the buyer's specifications or clearly personalised, nor to business buyers.

9. Sales at fairs and shows

In accordance with article L224-59 of the French Consumer Code, consumers have no right of withdrawal for purchases made at a fair or show. This information is displayed on the stand and stated on the order form. This rule does not apply to the distance sales described in article 8.

10. Legal guarantees

Consumer buyers benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity (articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code) and the guarantee against hidden defects (articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code). Consumers have two years from delivery to act under the legal guarantee of conformity. For original works, the artist guarantees authenticity through a certificate of authenticity.

11. Intellectual property

Selling an artwork transfers ownership of the object, not copyright. Any reproduction or representation of the work (publication, printing, online distribution…) requires the artist's prior written consent, in accordance with article L111-3 of the French Intellectual Property Code.

12. Personal data

The data collected (name, address, email, phone) is used only to process the order, delivery and invoicing, and to answer contact requests. It is kept as long as needed for these purposes and for legal obligations (accounting), then deleted. It is not passed on to third parties, apart from the carrier and payment providers. Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection and portability, which you can exercise by email to k.roumanoff@gmail.com. You may also contact the CNIL (cnil.fr).

13. Consumer mediation

In case of a dispute, consumer buyers may use a consumer mediator free of charge, after first trying to resolve the dispute directly with the artist in writing. Mediator: CM2C (Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice), www.cm2c.net.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable solution, the dispute falls under the competent courts according to ordinary rules; consumer buyers may bring the matter before the court of their place of residence.
